Edward Terry
Executive Editor
Edward Terry joined the News-Topic in February 2004 as managing editor and
became editor in July 2004. A graduate of Marshall University in Huntington,
W.Va., Terry earned a bachelor's degree in print journalism and a minor in
history. Prior to joining the News-Topic, Terry worked at Holland & Holland
in Lenoir, The Hickory Daily Record, The (Nashville) Tennessean and The
(Huntington) Herald-Dispatch.

Nathan Key
Managing Editor
A 1994 graduate of Appalachian State University, Nathan has been with the
News-Topic since 1995, three years as a sports writer and six years as the
sports editor before becoming the managing editor.

Paul Teague
Local News Editor
Paul Teague is on his second tour of duty at the News-Topic, returning to the paper in September 2006. He previously had worked in the sports department from 1990-1998, including five years as sports editor. A 2005 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College with a degree in Political Science, Teague is a trivia and movie buff.

Justin Parker
Sports Editor
Justin Parker arrived at the News-Topic in May 2007 after working for four years as the sports writer at the Huntersville Herald, where he won a 2005 N.C. Press Association award. A native of Terrell, NC, he is a 2002 graduate of Wingate University, where he earned a B.S. in Communications and met his wife Shanda. She was playing softball. He was, naturally, working her game. The Parkers are expecting their first child in November.

Adam Zuerndorfer
News-Topic Sports Writer
Adam Zuerndorfer came to the News-Topic December 2006. He reports sports and writes a biweekly sports column on a variety of subjects. He graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor's in Journalism and American Studies in 2006.

Tiffany Shirley
Hometown News
Tiffany joined the staff in April 2007 as the Hometown News coordinator April 2007. Tiffany is a native of Greenville, N.C. and a 2006 graduate of East Carolina University where she earned a Bachelors of Science in Communication with a concentration in Media Studies, Public Relations and Journalism and an English minor. She also received a certificate of Business, Professional and Technical Writing from East Carolina University in 2006.

Lifestyles Writer
Gina Story became the lifestyles writer for the News-Topic in August of 2005. A native of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Gina started her newspaper career with The (Myrtle Beach) Sun News.

Linda Payne
Cops and Courts
Linda Payne joined the News-Topic staff in September 2005 as the Hometown News Coordinator and took over the cops and courts beat in the spring of 2007. She also covers the towns of Granite Falls and Rhodhiss. A graduate of Appalachian State University in 2004 with a bachelors degree in Electronic Media Broadcasting and Print Journalism, Linda began her journalism career at the Topsail Voice in Hampstead, N.C.

David Prewitt
Photographer
David Prewitt joined the News-Topic staff in 2005, then rejoined the staff in 2007. David is a Burke County native who has an Associates Degree in Photographic Technologies from Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory. He also won an Amatuer Photography Award from Catawba Valley Camera Club in Hickory in 2005 and has been published in Our State Magazine, Bank Directors Magazine and Shutterbug Magazine.
