Tips for enjoying Art Around Caldwell

Nov. 07, 2013 @ 05:08 PM

From Lee Carol Giduz, executive director of the Caldwell Arts Council.

1. Ask questions. “Artists love to share what they do with other people and they expect people not to understand their art form, because most people aren’t artists. So there’s nothing wrong or embarrassing about really quizzing people on their work or asking them questions about anything to do with it.”

2. Stay comfortable. “Dress comfortably. You’re getting out of the car, you’re walking on sidewalks – make your experience comfortable.”

3. Keep the map. “I think a lot of the value, truly, is the map that we give people, because it has the contact information for each of these artists. So I can travel around and see the work and think about it and then say, ‘Gosh, I really like artist A’s work, I’m going to call them up and see if they still have that scarf.’”

4. Branch out. “The easiest thing to do is come to downtown Lenoir and go to all the ones clustered in downtown Lenoir, but you miss so much of the experience.”
