Cobras take down King
By News-Topic Sports StaffThe Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute men's basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 99-75 win over King College Monday. Despite the win, though, CCC&TI coach Mike Hainrihar said the Cobras have plenty of room for improvement. “This was a sloppy game for us,” Hainrihar said. “We had trouble putting them away, and we had trouble on defense. Our guys played hard again, but they just need to play smarter.” Cameron Walton led the Cobras with 20 points. Will Swaba contributed 17, DeMario Garvin had 16 and Trae Hinton had 10. Hainrihar singled out Casey Gee for a strong performance off the bench. Gee had six assists on the night. Michael Pritchard led the team with eight rebounds, and Clinton Sellers had five steals. The Cobras had 18 steals as a team. Still, Hainrihar was concerned. “(King) did a nice job of spreading us out,” he said. “They got us out of our defense and they knocked down open shots. We let them dictate to us.” CCC&TI plays again Wednesday at Spartanburg Methodist College.
