Staff ReportsLady Cobras stop Methodist With two players posting double-doubles, the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute women's basketball team improved to 11-3 for the season with a 70-65 win over visiting Spartanburg Methodist College. Brittany Colvin had 25 points, Keeyauna Powell had 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Robin Waddell had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Cobras. Even though the Cobras were outrebounded for the game 40-33, the team limited itself to just six turnovers in the second half to help secure the win. CCC&TI also won the battle at the foul line, shooting 25-of-39 while holding Spartanburg Methodist to 5-of-17 from the free throw stripe. CCC&TI will next play at home against 14th nationally ranked Louisburg College which is in NJCAA Division I. CCC&TI men lose tight game Ryan Sullivan scored 30 points and scored a layup with 0.2 seconds remaining to lead Wilkes Community College past CCC&TI 91-89 Wednesday night. The loss dropped CCC&TI to 12-5 on the season. Up next for the Cobras is an away game Saturday at Davidson County Community College. A league rival, Davidson is 3-0 in the Tar Heel Conference. DeMario Garvin led CCC&TI with 18 points and 12 rebounds Wednesday. Cameron Walton scored 15, Johnny Hildebran 14 and Athalie Rivera 11 for the Cobras. Michael Pritchard pulled down eight boards and Clinton Sellers dished out seven assists. Caldwell led 39-33 at the half and by as many as 11 in the second half.
