John Simmons Jr.

Mr. John Simmons Jr., 79, of Granite Falls, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Camelot Manor Nursing Facility.

He was born November 5, 1928, in Lakewood County, N.Y., to the late John Harry Simmons Sr. and Pauline Schmerhorn Simmons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Bruce Lee Simmons and an infant sister, Alta Simmons.

Mr. Simmons was a member of Crest View Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 1/2 years, Anne B. Simmons of the home; a daughter, Debbie Indicott and husband Brad of Lenoir; two granddaughters, Jennifer Barker and husband Harden, and Dr. Julie Waldrep and husband Wesley; a son, Dennis W. Simmons and wife Janet of Granite Falls; three grandsons, Matthew Simmons and wife Catrina, Timothy Simmons and wife Beth, and Dennis Simmons II and wife Stacy; three great-grandsons, Nolan, Alexander and Caleb; and a sister, Joan Rein of Pittsburg, Pa.

The memorial service for Mr. Simmons will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Crest View Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Isaacs officiating.
