Fred Richards
Mr. Fred Leverne Richards, 54, of Cajahs Mountain Road, Hudson, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 3, 2008, at his residence. He was born October 16, 1953, in Catawba County to Lawrence Richards and Shelvia Dula Richards of the home. Mr. Richards was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a long-distance truck driver for Drake Enterprises. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Lail Richards, and his grandparents, Bryson “Pete” Richards and wife Pauline Teague Richards, and Fred Dula and wife Wilma Simmons Dula. He is also survived by two brothers, Bryson Richards of Lenoir and Stewart Richards and wife Teresa of Hudson; three nephews, Joshua and Bradley Richards, both of Hudson, and Benji Richards of Lenoir; and a niece Robin Laxton of Hickory. The funeral service for Mr. Richards will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Mackie-High Chapel with the Rev. Keith Gillum officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Granite Falls. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Mackie-High Funeral Home.
