Bernice Townsend
Bernice Harris Townsend, 72, of Horseshoe Bend Rd., Hudson, passed away Friday, May 2, 2008 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born in Caldwell County to the late Lee Harris and Lela Ingle Harris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Millard Lee Harris Jr. Mrs. Townsend was a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband Lester Lee Townsend of the home; daughters Vickie Ward and husband Bryon of Granite Falls, Sandra White and husband Tim of Hudson, and Shelia Pritchard and husband Jerry of Hudson; four grandsons, Johnathan Saunders, Scott Pritchard, Brad Pritchard and Adam Ward; two granddaughters, Stephanie Saunders and Jennifer Conger; one sister, Shirley Henderson; one brother, J.W. Harris; and two great-grandsons, Gavin Pritchard, and Elijah Conger. A graveside service will be held today, May 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Winkler officiating. Memorials may be made to Caldwell County Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, NC 28645. Bass-Smith Granite is serving the Bernice H. Townsend family.
