Betty Buxton

Betty Wright Buxton, 78, of Vale, passed away Friday at College Pines Nursing Home after a period of declining health.

Betty was born January 14, 1930 in Lincoln County to the late Ambrose and Hattie Hicks Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Ancil Buxton; a son, Larry Buxton; three brothers, Pearly, Jesse and George Wright; and four sisters, Maree Felment, Bertha Felment, Joyce Brendle and Virgie Willis.

She was a member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church and retired from Sherrill Furniture.

She is survived by a son, Danny Buxton and wife, Faye of Valdese; grandson, Scott Buxton and wife Nora of Hickory; granddaughter, Crystal Buxton Bradshaw of Spruce Pine; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be today, May 3, at 2 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Brendle officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Hill United Methodist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 12:15-1:45 p.m.. at Hickory Funeral Home.
