Harold Sides

Harold Loyd Sides, 81, of Conway Drive, Granite Falls, died Friday, May 2, 2008 at Frye Regional Medical Center.

He was born October 3, 1926 in Caldwell County to the late Oscar and Sally McKelvey Sides. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary P. Sides; one son, Loyd Allen Sides; one daughter, June Melton; one brother, Ralph Sides and one sister, Carolyn Staley.

Mr. Sides was a retired machine operator at Broyhill Furniture Industries and attended East Hudson Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Timothy Darryl Sides of Granite Falls and Michael “Tony” Craig of Lenoir; one daughter, Mrs. Rita Craig Pritchard and husband Barry of Kings Creek; two brothers, Willard Sides and Oscar Sides, both of Gamewell; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Pritchard of Gamewell; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today at 4 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. David Keever. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
