Rev. James Boughman

The Rev. James Vernon Boughman, 75, of Morganton, went to be with his Heavenly Father Wednesday April 30, 2008, at Frye Regional Medical Center, after a period of declining health.

The Rev. Boughman was born June 12, 1932, in Burke County to the late Ernest Leroy and Pearl Elizabeth Carswell Boughman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Charles Luther Boughman.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the furniture industry. Rev. Boughman was a Baptist minister serving as pastor of the Community Baptist Church of Drexel for a number of years.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Carswell Boughman of the home; three sons, Jay Boughman and wife Sherry of Morganton, Billy Boughman and wife Tanya of Valdese, and Tracy Boughman and wife Marcie of Lenoir; a brother, Troy Boughman and wife Carol of Yanceyville, NC, and an uncle, Charles Ivey Boughman of Morganton. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jessica Pruett and husband Matt, Lori Boughman, Raymi Boughman, Lauren Whitson and husband Chris, B.J. Boughman; a great-grandchild, Sullivan Abee, and a niece Connie Barnette.

Funeral Services for Rev. James Vernon Boughman will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday May 4, 2008, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, with the Rev. Jim Bollinger and the Rev. Jimmy Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park with Military Rites by American Legion Post # 234 of Valdese.

The family will receive friends from 7 till 8:30 p.m.Saturday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
