Betty Price
Betty Jean Hamby Price, 74, of Goose Creek, S.C., widow of Demus Riley Price, died peacefully Thursday, May 1, 2008, in a care facility in North Charleston, S.C. She was born Dec.31, 1933, in Wilkes County, N.C., one of nine children of John Hamby and Annie Mae Holder Hamby. She was preceded in death by her husband, and son, David Wayne Price. She was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by two sons and their spouses, Larry Hamby (Sarah) and Tommy Price (Debi), both of Goose Creek, S.C.; two daughters, Teresa Dreher (Bubba) of Goose Creek, S.C., and Brenda Daff (Marion) of Moncks Corner, S.C.; five grandsons, five granddaughters, 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Izola Hamby; and brother, Edward Hamby, both of Lenoir, N.C. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 1 p.m. at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston. Entombment, Plantation Memorial Gardens, 3345 South Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner, SC. The family will receive friends today in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel between 6 and 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to North Trident Baptist Church, 9939 Jamison Road, Summerville, SC 29485 or one's favorite charity.
