Arvil Dula
Arvil Glenn “Bud” Dula, 75, of Granite Falls passed away Monday, April 28, 2008 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 17, 1933 in Caldwell County to the late Carlie C. Dula and Flora Kirby Dula. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Dula; a niece, Janice Dula; brothers, Zernie, Ode, William “Ruffy”, Charles, J.C. and Arnold Dula. Mr. Dula was a U.S. Army Veteran, and member of New Star Community Church of God. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 392. Survivors include his wife of 50 years Linda Hale Dula; two sons, Jerry Dula and wife Thalia of Hickory and Mike Dula and wife Robin of Lenoir; three daughters, Gaye Wilson and husband Donald of Lenoir, Pat Bartee of Claremont and Gina Specht and husband Derek of Conover; two brothers, Ned “Tink” Dula and wife Mellie of Hickory and Stirl Dula and wife Mary Nell of Granite Falls; grandchildren, Joseph Miller, Lindsay Wilson, Traci Minton, Randi Minton, Wendy Dula, Johnathan Dula, Chloe Specht, Hope Specht, Maison Dula, Megan Dula, Grace Specht, Ryan Cook and Graham Hedrick; three sisters-in-law, Mozelle Dula, Nadine Dula and Thelma Dula, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today, April 30, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. in the Bass Smith Granite Chapel with Pastor Derek Specht officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today, April 30, at Bass Smith Granite Funeral Home from 1 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Miller, Sean Crump, Tim Johnson, J.R. Johnson, Ryan Cook and Tim Wilson. Memorials may be made to the Caldwell County Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, NC 28645, and to the New Star Community Church of God, P.O. Box 1028, Newton, NC 28658.
