Carl West
Carl E. West, 77, of Connelly Springs Road, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at his residence. He was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Macon County, N.C., to the late Hubert and Ollie Mae Haskett West. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, five brothers, R.P West, Roger West, Charles West, Paul West and Fred West. He was a U.S. Army veteran, retired from American Efird Mills and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Stella Jean West of the home; three brothers, Harold West of South Carolina, Johnny West of Lenoir and L.H. West of Louisiana; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Sumpter and Mrs. Eva Mae Dula, both of Lenoir. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Charles Parsons and the Rev. Ernest Bowes. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family received friends Monday, April 28, 2008, at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry and Jerry Dula, David, Gary, Darrell and John West.
