Ruby Shepherd
Ms. Ruby Carlton Shepherd, 78, of Boomer, died Thursday, April 24, 2008 in Britthaven of Wilkesboro. Born Jan. 14, 1930 in Isaban, W.Va., Ms. Shepherd was a daughter of the late Claude Steele and Mary Jane Parsons Carlton. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Goldine C. Justus, Ruth C. Hamlett, Eunice C. Pendergraft and Norma C. Ervin and two brothers, Joe Carlton and Conley S. Carlton. Ms. Shepherd was a retired cosmetologist and a member of Little Rock Baptist Church where she served on the music committee and sang in the choir. She is survived by one sister, Eula C. Little and husband Wayne of Boomer; one brother, Harold G. Carlton of Boomer and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Little Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Webb and Rev. David Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Robert Little, Mark Ervin, Johnny Hamlett, Wesley Huff, Benji Cline and Ralph Bailey.
