Thursday's local roundup Staff Reports Hibriten golfer Alex Simmons fired a nine-hole round of 32 Thursday and was medalist in the first of two Catawba Valley Athletic Conference matches at Rock Barn in Hickory. Simmons won the first match by three strokes.
