The Caldwell County Economic Development Commission endorsed on Tuesday the applications of three companies seeking incentives packages for projects that could bring up to 150 new jobs.

The companies currently are requesting confidentiality, so the EDC is referring to each by a project name.

A company referred to as Project Prime Time is planning an expansion that could bring up to 50 jobs over the course of one year, said Deborah Murray, the executive director of the EDC.

Project Gift Wrap would be a new company to Caldwell County, a manufacturer of specialty paper. The company is looking for more than 100,000 square feet of space in the Lenoir area and will be applying for both state and local incentives. If it comes to Lenoir, the company could hire up to 50 people over three years.

Project Dawn involves a green-technology company considering a site in the Sawmills area. It also will be applying for both state and local incentives. If it comes, it would invest up to $15 million in its site. Murray said the company’s incentives application calls for hiring up to 50 people over three years, but “we see job creation accelerating more than the 50 jobs.”
