The Olivet Community Food Pantry will be open Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m.-noon. The pantry is a mission of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, which is at the intersection of N.C. 90/Collettsville Road and Mulberry Creek Road. Donations will be gladly accepted at this time. A special thank you is expressed to those from area churches who have volunteered their time and money to assist the pantry. We welcome those who wish to assist in this effort. The pantry is open to anyone who needs emergency food supplies.

The Entouch Choir of the First Church of God will host a Gospel Mass Choir Workshop on Saturday, June 15, beginning with breakfast at 10 a.m. Registration is $15 at the door and includes lunch. A concert will follow at 6 p.m. featuring the Workshop Choir. Special guest facilitators are Dr. Michael Smith of Marion and Pastor Ricky Hayes of Elkin. All choirs, musicians and soloists are welcome to attend.

Crossroads Community Church, 2075 Morganton Blvd., will hold the Summer Shoutout Jubilee 4-8 p.m. June 15 with Shout Out, Miracle of Christ, Carolina Harvest and The Evangelairs. There will be food, fun, fellowship, games for the kids, a bounce house and face painting. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Bring your own chairs.

June 15 is the deadline to make a $100 deposit for a trip to the Senior Jubilee Convention, sponsored by Unifour Christian Seniors, Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Gatlinberg, Tenn. The total cost of $290 per person includes the convention, lodging, transportation and meals while in Gatlinberg. Charles Stanley will be speaking, and Johnny Hunt, Sandi Patty, Larnelle Harris, Wayne Watson, The Inspirations, The Perry's, Guy Penrod, Mark Lowry, Greater Vision and many more will be singing. Tabernacle Advent Christian Church, 1522 Wildwood Road in Lenoir, and Lenoir Community Church will sponsor a Children's Crusade June 16-19, 6:30-8 p.m., with child evangelist the Rev. Rob Buchanan of Princeton, W.Va. Children from 3 years old to to fifth grade are invited to attend and participate in a mission project and recreation, as well as lively music and a gospel message.

A new church, 2nd Chance Ministries, launches with four nights of events Monday-Thursday, June 17-20, at 7 p.m. each night at 4461 Hickory Nut Ridge Road in Hudson: Monday with Bishop John Smiley from Soul's Harvest Church; Tuesday with the Rev. Matthew Moody from East Hudson Baptist; Wednesday with Pastor Fred Stapleton from Cornerstone Covenant Church; Thursday with Pastor Tim Suiter from The Miracle Church. Ambassador Baptist Church, on Mount Herman Road off U.S. 321, will conduct Vacation Bible School Monday-Friday, June 17-21, 6-8 p.m. This year's theme is "Investigation Destination." Ages 5 through teens are invited for Bible lessons, good food and games. For more information call the church office, 728-2459.

Bethel Advent Christian Church, off Taylorsville Road on Draco Road, offers Vacation Bible School Monday-Friday, June 17-21, 6:30-8:30 p.m. The theme is "Tell It on the Mountain - Where Jesus Christ Is Lord." Classes for all ages, meals served nightly. Crafts, songs and games.

Kings Creek Baptist Church, 4698 Kings Creek Church Road, offers Vacation Bible School, "Colossal Coaster World," June 17-21 from 6:30-8:45 p.m. For more information, 754-6682.

Rock Creek Baptist Church's Vacation Bible School will be Jun 19-21, 6:30-8:30 p.m. each night, with a cookout on June 21 and commencement on June 23. There will be special singing during the Bible school. The public is welcome. For church instructions or information, call 754-3631.
