Citizens for Justice will meet at 10 a.m. at the Caldwell County Public Library in Lenoir. The public is invited.
The Collettsville Historical Society hosts Heritage Day at the Wilson Creek Visitor Center from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Bring your old photos and family history to share with the attendees. The Fabulous Family Film series continues. An inflatable, two-story screen will present movies in downtown Lenoir at dark. In case of inclement weather, movies will be shown in the Lenoir High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. All movies are rated G or PG. The Caldwell County NAACP will meet at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center at 6:30 p.m.
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 29 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Post 29 American Legion Home, 401 Main Street NW, Lenoir. President Jaymee Smith and membership chairman Frances Oxford will present plans of action for service to veterans, families and the community. The first session of a free, two-session class on healthy living meets 3-5 p.m. at Quest 4 Life. Learn better eating habits, how to exercise from a chair and tricks to make better health choices. “Coffee with the Curator” will be held at the Caldwell Heritage Museum at 10 a.m. Board member Stephenie Oxford will lead the discussion on “Ladies of Caldwell County, 1900-1950.” A donation of $5 per person for the support of the Museum is suggested. All the coffee you can drink and all the history you can absorb. The Caldwell Heritage Museum is at 112 Vaiden St. SW behind Davenport School in downtown Lenoir.

Caldwell County Yokefellow is conducting a Hands on Tour of Food Lion event beginning at 3 p.m. to teach those attending how to stretch their food budgets and eat great-tasting food at the same time. Tour participants will assemble at Yokefellow, located at 1602 Harper Ave. SW at 2:45 and will be driven to the Food Lion supermarket on Wilkesboro Boulevard. Each participant will receive a $10 Food Lion card to purchase a healthy meal at the end of the tour. You must pre-register to attend. For more information, call Leah at 754-7088.
The Lenoir Alive Art Walk will be 5-8 p.m. in downtown Lenoir. Artists will be in downtown businesses painting, showing their photography, selling their crafts, making music, and creating jewelry and other unique artwork. Lenoir Alive is a free community event that will be held the third Thursday each month throughout the summer. Lenoir First Wesleyan Church, 906 Creekway Drive, will host its annual School Supply Giveaway from 5:30 p.m. until the school supplies run out. The first 300 children will receive supplies -- each child to receive supplies must be present. There will be free hot dogs for everyone.

Happy Valley Ruritan, 1317 Yadkin River Road, will have its Big Breakfast 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The cost is $6.50 per adult, $3 for children under 10. The menu includes a variety of meats, eggs, grits, gravy, biscuits, pancakes, fried apples, served with juice and coffee. All proceeds help the community. For more information call 828-292-9364.

In celebration of National Model Aviation Day, the Caldwell AeroModelers remote-control airplane club will host an open house 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the club field in Hudson for anyone interested in remote-controlled model aviation flight. Club members will have a variety of powered and glider type aircraft on display. Club instructor pilots will be on hand for anyone interested in flying a remote-controlled airplane. Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard will hold its monthly meeting and training with the Army National Guard at 6:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 392, 243 Legion Road in Hudson. All honorably discharged veterans who have an interest in participating in activities honoring veterans, the American flag at special events and helping ensure all veterans who wish to receive a military funeral to get their wish are invited.
