Church calendar for week of July 11-18

The church calendar is not for regular church services but for special announcements. Information about weekly services can be listed on the weekly service page. Items that can be accepted for the calendar include fundraisers, meals, homecomings, music, revivals and community service.

The Tuesday Twilight Church League will play golf on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. through Aug. 26 at Lenoir Golf Club, two-man teams, best ball. The cost is $12 per person for nine holes with a golf cart. For more information, contact Ty Watts at 754-5093.

  Pastors from Miracle Church, 211 N. Fairview Drive, will preach and sing at the Food Lion on N.C. 18 each Friday at 7 p.m.

  St. John's Lutheran Church, 352 Central St., Hudson, is hosting "Gangway to Galilee" Vacation Bible School on Saturday-Sunday, July 12-13. Children in grades K-5 are welcome to join and learn about Jesus' love for them. Saturday will have Bible stories, games, crafts, and food, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (registration begins at 8:30 a.m.).   Jerry Rogers will be welcomed as the new pastor of the North Caldwell Charge of the United Methodist Church (Harper's Chapel UMC and Mount Olivet UMC) on Sunday, July 13. A covered-dish breakfast will begin at 9 a.m. at the Shiloh Fellowship Hall, 3110 Shiloh Church Road, Lenoir, just off Setzer's Creek Road. Bring a dish and enjoy fellowship with Rogers, his wife, Diane, and his granddaughter, Harley. The service will take place at Harper's Chapel UMC, 1360 Yadkin River Road, Patterson, at 11 a.m. The church is beside Happy Valley School.

  Nazareth Advent Christian Church in Lenoir will have a BBQ Lunch on Sunday, July 13, starting at 1 p.m. The cost is $7 a plate.

  Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 Seehorn St., will host Son Adventure Island Vacation Bible School Sunday-Tuesday, July 13-15, 6-8 p.m. each evening. Classes for all ages, including adults, will be held. For more information call the church office at 758-7482.

  Gamewell Unitied Methodist Church will have Vacation Bible School July 13-16 from 6-8:30 p.m. for children ages 4 through 12.

  Concord Baptist Church in Granite Falls will have Vacation Bible School, with the theme "Lifeway's AgencyD3: Discover, Decide, Defend," July 13-17 5:30-8:30 p.m. Dinner for the children is served at 5:30 p.m. Worship at headquarters, explore the evidence vault, rec at the training grounds, crafts in the lab, missions in the map room.   July 13-17, 5:30-8:45 p.m. each evening, Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 4948 Burns Road in Granite Falls, presents its annual Vacation Bible School. The theme this year is "Workshop of Wonders: Imagine & Build with God," with Bible teaching, crafts, and lots of fun, including Nerf battles and water activities. A free meal will be served each evening at 5:30 p.m. Children's assembly is at 6:15 p.m. The adult class is from 6:30-7:30 p.m. There will be classes and activities for children from pre-K to to teens.   First Baptist Hudson, 345 Main St., will have Vacation Bible School, with the theme "Lifeway's AgencyD3: Discover, Decide, Defend," Sunday-Thursday, July 13-17, 6-8:30 p.m. It kicks off with inflatables on Sunday 4:30-6 p.m. While investigating at AgencyD3, kids will collect and log evidence ab out the life of Jesus, examine witness reports, physical proof and biblical accounts to uncover and defend the truth about who Jesus is.   Yadkin Baptist Church, 2044 Roby Martin Road, Patterson, will conduct Vacation Bible School July 13-18 from 6-8:30 p.m. each day.   The Life Center, 1925 Valway Road in Lenoir, will have Vacation Bible School July 14-18, 6-8 p.m., with the theme "AgencyD3."   Rock Creek Baptist Church, 1250 Shew Hollar Road, will have Vacation Bible School July 14-18, 6-8:30 p.m., with the theme "Cross Canyon Trail." All ages are welcome. There will be food, crafts, skits and Bible study.

  Liberty Baptist Church, 213 Hazel Lee St. near Thomasville Furniture, will have its VBS for all ages, even adults, July 14-18 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. nightly. The theme is "God Created It All.''

  The Olivet Community Food Pantry will be open on Saturday, July 19, 9 a.m.-noon. Mount Olivet UMC is at the intersection of Collettsville Road and Mulberry Creek Road. The pantry is a mission of the North Caldwell Charge of the United Methodist Church, which includes Mount Olivet and Harper's Chapel UMC. All of those in need of emergency food supplies are welcome. Donations will be accepted during this time as well.

  Resurrection Hope Church at 732 Stacy Place SW, Lenoir (Whitnel section), will have a community-wide Vacation Bible School on Saturday, July 19, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. "F.R.O.G. (Fully Rely On God)" is the theme with classes for pre-school through adults. This one-day VBS will be filled with music, skit, classes, lunch and crafts. For more information call 828-728-2307.

  First United Methodist Church of Lenoir will have a welcome reception for the Rev. Linda Kelly and her daughter, Kasey, July 20 at 9:45 a.m. in the Christian Life Center.

  The Life Center, 1925 Valway Road in Lenoir, will have the Annual Rainbow March and Tea on July 20 starting at 3 p.m. Speakers from various churches will speak on the colors of the rainbow and their significance to the Bible.

  Harris Chapel Baptist Church in Hudson is having Vacation Bible School on four consecutive Sunday evenings 5-7 p.m., beginning July 20 and ending Aug. 10.   Center Grove Baptist Church, 3176 Deal Mill Road, Hudson, will have its "Agency D3 (Discover, Decide, Defend)" Vacation Bible School July 20-25 from 6-8:30 p.m. each night. Registration will be July 20 from 5:30-6 p.m. Free meals will be available from 5:15-6 p.m. July 21-24.   Mount Zion Baptist Church in Sawmills will conduct Vacation Bible School for all ages Monday-Friday, July 21-25, 6-8:45 p.m. Each session will begin with a meal followed by worship, Bible study, music, crafts, mission study, and other activities. The last night is Family Night, when there will be a meal followed by a special program for participants and their families. The theme is "Lifeway’s AgencyD3 - Discover, Decide, Defend" (1 Peter 3:15). The public is invited to attend. Buses will run.   Cedar Rock Baptist Church, 306 Wildwood Road, will have Vacation Bible School Monday-Friday, July 21-25, 6-8:30 p.m. nightly. There will be Friday night commencment with a cookout (hamburgers and hot dogs) and a bounce house.

  New Life Baptist Church, 2111 Walt Arney Road, will have its Son Treasure Island Bible School Kickoff starting at 4 p.m. July 27 with inflatables and lots of fun. At 6 p.m. recording artist Shellem Cline will be in Concert. No tickets are required for the concert but a love offering will be taken up.

  For the Pine Mountain Baptist Camp Meeting, during the first week, July 21-25 7:30 p.m. nightly, the visiting speaker is Brother Leonard Fletcher from Dyson's Grove Baptist Church in Mountain City, Tenn. During the second week, July 29-Aug. 1 7:30 p.m. nightly, the visiting speaker is Brother Kenneth Frady from Burke County. There will be the combined camp meeting choir and other special singing.

 

Christian recording artists The Nelons and Michael English will be featured at the Walker Center on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro on Friday, July 25, at 7 p.m. to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Ebenezer Christian Children’s Home.   Storehouse Daily Bread Ministries is giving away groceries and other items to needy families on Mondays from 9 a.m.-noon. The ministry is off Morganton Boulevard behind Fairvalue grocery store.
