Saturday, Nov. 2

There will be a Right To Life meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the basement of the Caldwell County Public Library in Lenoir.

The decendants of Walter Thomas Bean will have their 52nd family reunion at Center Grove Baptist Church in Hudson starting at 10:30 a.m., and lunch will be served at noon. A session on three things for which they are most grateful will be voiced at the meeting. Meat, bread and condiments will be provided. Bring a side dish and/or dessert and a drink (tea, soda, etc.). Bring auction items, wrapped or unwrapped and labeled.

The Cellu/Sealed Air 10th Reunion is at 11:30 a.m. at Meedo's. There is no up-front fee, everyone simply pays their own tab.

Sunday, Nov. 3

The Friends of the Library annual meeting will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Lenoir branch of the Caldwell County Public Library in room 7. Gretchen Griffith, a local author, will present the program.

Collettsville Ruritan Club will celebrate 60 years of service to the community with fellowship and refreshments 3-4 p.m. and a program at 4 p.m. that will include past national Ruritan president Wayne Outlaw.

Monday, Nov. 4

The Caldwell County NAACP will meet at the MLK Center at 6:30 p.m. All members please be present.

Tuesday, Nov. 5

The Better Breathers Club, a support group is designed for people with respiratory illnesses, meets at noon at the Hickory YMCA Teen Center. The group is free and open to the public, but you are asked to register ahead of time at 828-315-3563.

Collettsville Ruritan Club will honor veterans with a time of fellowship from 6-7 p.m., and a meal and program at 7 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 7

Frye Regional Medical Center at 420 N. Center St. in Hickory is offering free screenings for peripheral vascular disease, and free diabetic foot and blood sugar checks, 8–11 a.m. at the radiology department. People are asked to register in advance at 828-315-3391.

The Caldwell County Democratic Party general party meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Caldwell County Public Library.

Friday, Nov. 8

The Town of Granite Falls Veterans Committee is having a groundbreaking ceremony at the future site of the Granite Falls veterans monument, the Granite Falls Recreation Center on Pinewood Road near Philadelphia Lutheran Church, at 10 a.m. The program will consist of a selection of patriotic music, the presentation of colors, comments to honor our veterans, and other groundbreaking activities. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held at Philadelphia Lutheran Church.

Heritage Christian School's fall fundraiser, with a spaghetti supper, additional food, silent auction, air rides, and featuring The Mylon Hayes Family, will be 4-7 p.m. at the school, 239 Mount Herman Road, Hudson.
