Man drowns on Lake Rhodhiss

May have slipped off rocks above dam

A 40-year-old man drowned just before 4 a.m. Sunday on Lake Rhodhiss after either slipping or jumping off some rocks above the Rhodhiss dam, said Capt. B.J. Fore of the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office. Capt. Fore did give the man's identity or say when the body was recovered.

The man was among three who were believed to have been swimming when the accident occurred. The other two made it back to shore.

The accident occurre on the Caldwell County side of the lake. Emergency crews from numerous agencies staged at the boat landing commonly known as the 'Tater Hole' in Granite Falls.

The investigation is ongoing, Capt. Fore said.
