Hudson police: Chia Yang of Morganton had drugs in school parking lot
A Morganton man has been charged with having methamphetamine in the parking lot of Hudson Middle School.
Hudson Police were called to the school just before 5:30 p.m. Friday about a suspicious person sitting in his car in the parking lot. When police arrived, the driver of the car, 28-year-old Chia Yang of 5535 West Pine Hills Ave. in Morganton, tried to drive away, but officers blocked him in, a press release from the Hudson Police Department said. Officers searched Yang and found 17 grams of methamphetamine, the press release said.
School is on summer break, so no students were at the school.
Yang was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, felony maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of keeping or selling a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A $75,000 secured bond was set and Yang was taken to the Caldwell County jail.
