A young woman from Hudson died Saturday from injuries sustained in a wreck in Wilson County, Tenn.

Alexis Shiann Phillips, 18, was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima west on Interstate 40 near Lebanon, about 30 miles east of Nashville, when her car spun out of control just before 11 p.m. and skidded sideways across the median and into the path of a 2005 Jeep Laredo, the Tennessee Highway Patrol reported.

The Jeep slammed into the rear passenger side of Phillips' car, ripping the back end of the car off, the Highway Patrol said, while the Jeep ran off the right side of the road and wrecked into a ditch, where it caught fire.

The Jeep's driver, Aaron Nicholson, 23, of Pleasant View, Tenn., and his passenger, Katie Worley, 21, were not seriously injured in the collision.

It was raining at the time of the accident, but investigators are not sure what made Phillips' car spin out of control, the Highway Patrol said. The wreck is still under investigation.
