Connelly Springs man charged in break-in, thefts
A Burke County man was arrested Wednesday by the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office and accused of stealing guns, jewelry and electronics from a home on Morris Creek Road in southeastern Caldwell County.
The value of the merchandise exceeded $50,000, said Detective Aaron Barlowe of the sheriff's office.
Footage from the Aug. 25 break-in recorded by a surveillance camera in the house led investigators to Johnny Everette Setzer, 42, of 2082 N.C. 70 in Connelly Springs, Barlowe said. He was charged with three felonies, including breaking and entering, larceny, and possession of stolen property.
Authorities also are seeking to charge Setzer with being a habitual felon relating to this arrest. According to the N.C. Division of Adult Correction, Setzer was convicted in 2003 and 2008 of being a habitual felon. His record also shows numerous convictions for breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods, and larceny of firearms, all felonies.
Others also may be arrested in the break-in, Barlowe said.
