Child struck by car
A 2-year-old child was struck by a car driven by a teenager in Granite Falls Friday afternoon as it was backing out of a driveway.
The child, Zoey Bentley, was flown to Carolinas Medical Center with a possible broken femur,.
Police responded to the call at 3:43 p.m. at 2 King Henry Lane, off Sunset Street, said Adam Minor of the Granite Falls Police Department. The driver, a high school student, was visiting the child's parents, Brittany and Lonnie Bentley, of 34-A Hillside Ave., who was at the residence on King Henry Lane at the time. The car, a 1997 Mercedes sedan, backed over the child's leg, Minor said.
No charges have been filed in the incident.
"It was strictly an accident," Minor said.
