2 accused of selling meth in Granite Falls
Two Caldwell County residents were arrested in Granite Falls about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday and accused of selling methamphetamine.
The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office Ice Unit, along with Granite Falls police, were watching an area on Dudley Alley known for drug activity when Roger Dale Franklin Sr., 51, of 2526 Old Trenton Place and Destiny Nicole Miller, 26, of 2773 N.C. 268 arrived in a 1992 Dodge pickup truck, a press release issued by the sheriff's office stated. After the truck parked, Miller was seen getting out of the passenger side and making a drug deal with a third person, and Ice agents and police arrested the couple and searched the truck, the press release said. Eight packs of methamphetamine, with a street value of $600, and $290 in cash were seized. The third person was cooperating with investigators and was not charged.
Franklin was charged with maintaining a vehicle to keep or store a controlled substance and possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine, both felonies. A $100,000 secured bond was set. Miller was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, and a $5,000 secured bond was set. Both were taken to the Caldwell County jail. Both were scheduled to have their first court hearings today in Caldwell District Court.
At the time of his arrest, Franklin was out of jail on bond for recent drug charges filed by Lenoir police. N.C. Division of Adult Correction records show Franklin has been convicted on numerous counts of driving while impaired, habitual impaired driving, and felony receiving stolen goods.
