Among the items taken from the house where a man was shot in the leg July 2, a wound that proved fatal, were a cartridge case, a bag of white powder, straws, assorted pills, "green leafy material," a cellphone and a pocketbook.

The resident of the house at 2491 Hawksbill Court, Cynthia Hewitt Chisholm, 40, was arrested July 3 and charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Her prior conviction was in 2007 on a felony charge of cocaine possession. The July 3 warrant for Chisholm's arrest stated she had a Davis Industries .380-caliber handgun.

Chisholm is accused of shooting her estranged boyfriend, Stevenson Patterson Jr., in the leg. After being shot, Patterson got into the 1997 Ford Explorer he was driven and started for the hospital, but he soon lost consciousness and wrecked on Miller Hill Road.

Patterson, 27, died later that day at Caldwell Memorial Hospital after losing a massive amount of blood. The bullet had hit the femoral artery in his leg.
