Two tied to 'network of theft,' sheriff says
A man and woman sought in Caldwell and Burke counties for involvement in what was described as a "network of theft" were captured Tuesday on Peachtree Lane in Granite Falls, the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office said.
Matthew Charles Minton, 24, and Morgan McKinley Sigmon, 18, both of 2015 Connelly Springs Road, "have both been a thorn in our sides for a long time," Caldwell County sheriff's Lt. Aaron Barlowe said.
Caldwell Sheriff Alan Jones said, "These individuals are just the tip of a large network of theft that is occurring within the area that we continue to dissect."
Minton was charged with resisting an officer; giving fictitious information to an officer; second-degree trespassing; larceny of a motor vehicle; two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle; larceny after breaking and entering; possession of stolen property; larceny of motor fuel; and failure to appear. His secured bond was set at $126,500.
Sigmon was charged with second-degree trespass; probation violation; failure to appear; two counts burglary and breaking and entering; felony larceny; possession of stolen property; and obtaining property by false pretense. Her secured bond was set at $162,500.
