Traffic stop nets two felony drug arrests
A man who already was facing two drug charges but was out of jail on bond was arrested again Wednesday and accused of buying more drugs.
Agents with the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office Ice unit who had been watching Roger Dale Franklin Sr. and Sheila Hamby Sipes throughouth the day and into the night saw Franklin pick up some methamphetamine, so they stopped the 192 Dodge pickup he and Sipes were in, a press release from the sheriff's office. Agents searched Franklin and Hamby and found more than a half-ounce of crystal meth, $1,175 in cash and drug paraphernalia.
Franklin, 51, of 2526 Old Trenton Place in southwestern Caldwell County was charged with felony maintaining a vehicle to keep or store a controlled substance and felony possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine. He was jailed, and his bond was set at $150,000.
The truck was impounded by the sheriff's office.
Sipes, 39, of 1605 Starcross Road in Lenoir was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine. Her bond was set at $7,500.
