It may be slick outside this morning
The Caldwell County Schools are opening on a three-hour delay this morning because of predicted icy conditions on roads from a winter storm sweeping across the region last night.
The National Weather Service issued a freezing rain advisory that remains in effect until 9 a.m. today for portions of Georgia and the Carolinas, including Caldwell County. Freezing rain mixed with sleet was expected last night, with possible accumulation up to a tenth of an inch.
Drivers on their way to work early this morning should be careful because of the forecast. 1st Sgt. Scott Byers of the N.C. Highway Patrol said that if the roads are slick, drivers should allow more travel time and stopping distance, and slow down — or, if you can, stay home until conditions improve.
