Letter: This country has changed

To the editor:

What has our nation come to? Our nation is no longer a peaceful one. It is a nation that is full of violence. We used to be able to leave our doors unlocked at night as we slept in our bed without fear of someone breaking into our homes. These days you have to have more than one lock on your door and a camera system watching every part of your home from fear of someone robbing you at night while you sleep. Some of the people you thought you could trust you find out that you can’t, even your own family members. There are mothers killing their children, spouses killing each other, brothers killing sisters or fathers killing their children. What happened to us? Family used to be so important to most Americans but now it’s a thing of the past. Now the only important things in most peoples lives are drugs and alcohol. These things are taking the place of our children and family. God gave us all a life with family and children for a reason. He didn’t give us these precious gifts to throw away like trash over drugs. Something needs to be done before our nation crumbles. We have already taken God out of everything when this is supposed to be a nation under God. What is it going to take for us all to open our eyes before it’s too late? We live in a free country right now but that can change in the blink of an eye.
