Help needed in breaking arson cases
Lenoir police think three fires that occurred within a half-mile of each other may be linked, and are asking the public for help.
All three were intentionally set, and all occurred on a Sunday. Two were on Nov. 17 and were reported within minutes of each other. The first was about 8 p.m. at a house on the corner of Willow Street and College Avenue that once served as a Catholic school, and was being remodeled for use as a bed and breakfast. Another fire was reported four minutes later at A New Dimension substance abuse and counseling center at 116 Main Street NW.
On Dec. 29, firefighters arrived at 902 College Ave. SE — which is in between the sites of the first two fires — just before 9 a.m. to find a garage up in flames. The garage had no power source, so it may have been set, police Capt. Couby Stilwell said. The blaze destroyed a 2007 Cadillac and 1998 Subaru Legacy parked in the garage.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Lenoir Police Department at 757-2100, or Lenoir/Caldwell Crimestoppers at 758-8300.
