Police say a Lenoir man downloaded and distributed pornographic images of children under 8 years old performing sex acts.

Lenoir police and the State Bureau of Investigation arrested Curtis Benjamin Kacludis, 31, of 1095-A Cedar Hills Apartments April 26 after searching his apartment April 26. His computer also was seized. Kacludis was charged with three counts second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor (distribution) and three counts third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor (possession), both felonies. Kacludis' secured bond was set at $75,000.

Police would not say how many images were found, or whether Kacludis knew any of the children in the pictures.

The arrest was also the result of the N.C. ICAC Task Force, the SBI's computer crime unit that assists law enforcement across the state in solving sophisticated crimes involving a computer. Agents combine technological expertise with investigative training to catch child predators and other criminals.

The investigation is ongoing, and more charges could be filed.
