Woman charged in stabbing of cousin
A woman has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, after her cousin was stabbed multiple times Tuesday evening in front of her home in the Baton community.
Shirley Luann Abee, 48, of 4032 Stone Creek Court was taken into custody Tuesday after her cousin, Dwayne Howard Abee, 40, was found just before 7 p.m. on the lawn of Abee's house, stabbed four times in the lower torso and once in the arm. Abee, who lives at 4917 John Abee St. in Connelly Springs, was taken by ambulance to Valdese General Hospital and then taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he remained in serious condition Wednesday.
Jeryl Wyckoff, who lives two doors down from Shirley Abee's house, said she saw a blue van pull up across the street from the house, then heard a man yelling from the direction of the house.
"It sounded like someone was having a stroke, a heart attack, or was being stabbed," Wyckoff said.
Shirley Abee was taken to the Caldwell County jail, and a $100,000 secured bond was set. Abee was scheduled for a hearing today in Caldwell District Court.
The site of the stabbing is only about 100 yards from a house on Flinstone Court where the body of Raoul Anton Dula was found June 20. Two people -- Earl Franklin Moore Jr. and Jenny Lynn Childress -- have been charged with murder in that incident.
