Hudson Elementary School officially welcomed its new principal at a meet-and-greet at the school on Tuesday evening.

Teachers, school administrators, parents and students dropped by to meet Adam Windmiller and his family as well as enjoy some refreshments like sweet tea and cookies.

Windmiller is returning to Caldwell County Schools after spending two years at Fred T. Foard High School in Catawba County. Previously, Windmiller worked at Gateway School, Hudson Middle School and South Caldwell High School with exceptional children.

Windmiller said that his main goal as principal is to instill the love of learning in every student.

“I look forward to creating lifelong learners,” Windmiller said. “All of these kids are in a great community, but I feel like my role is to help the teachers create (lifelong learners).”

Windmiller and his wife, Kristin, have two children, Grant, 8, and Madison, 6. They live in Hudson, “through the woods a quarter of a mile” from the school, he said.

“I’m really happy to be home,” Windmiller said. “The faculty and staff have been wonderful. They’ve welcomed me with open arms. I already feel like I’m part of the family.”

Even before the first day of school, Windmiller is receiving rave reviews. Savannah Coffey, 6, said she is already a fan of her new principal.

“I think he’s going to be great,” Savannah said.
