4 to compete in Miss Harambee Pageant
The City of Lenoir and the Martin Luther King Jr. Center will present the 2014 Miss Harambee Pageant Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Lenoir High School Auditorium.
Competing in this year's pageant are four young ladies from the Lenoir area: Shakava Rutherford, Jakaysha Berry, Milon Green and Jayvilin Davis.
Each was asked about her experiences in the pageant so far:
Shakava: "I'm a shy person and didn't think that I would be able to get in front of people, but now I'm getting used to it with practice."
Jakaysha: "This is my first time participating in anything like this, and this has been a great experience so far."
Milon: "This is my second time being in the pageant, and it has made me grow as a person."
Jayvilin: "I've been in things that involve being in front of crowds before, but this has been by far the best experience in preparation and rehearsals that I've ever had."
Pageant coordinator Joy Grandy said this has been a great group of young ladies to work with, and she wishes all of them the best of luck.
