Children reported missing
Angie Crump last saw her two youngest children on Friday when she dropped them off for a visitation with their father. A missing persons report has been filed with the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office.
The children's, Adam Christopher Blankenship, picked up 11-year-old Jacob Lee and 8-year-old Andrew Benjamin Blankenship on Friday, and under the terms of a court-order custody arrangement was supposed to return them on Sunday.
"Why is it I have custody papers, and I can't do anything?" Crump said.
Deputies tried three times to make contact with Blankenship at his Chester Road residence, with no success, a sheriff's office report said.
Neither of the children attended school this week at Gamewell Elementary.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is awaiting the sheriff's office report, a NCMEC spokeswoman said Thursday.
Crump said that while her ex-husband has never been late to return the children after their bi-weekly visitation, she says he is currently is about $10,000 behind in child support payments.
"I just miss them, and I love them, and I want them to come home safely," Crump said tearfully.
