Mr. Howard Franklin Shaver, age 44, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Sullivan County, Tenn. on February 23, 1969 to the late Howard Shaver and Mary Ellen Whitaker Shaver.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Shaver.
He is survived by his son, Travis Shaver; his girlfriend of 9 years, Linda Shoun; his estranged wife of 18 years, Dawn Shaver; sisters, Kathy Eden, Marie Lively, Linda Howington, Jannie Sykes, Pam Brown, Connie Moore; brother, Tony Shaver; aunts, Carolyn and Jenny Whitaker, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Stewart M. Propst, age 62, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Gateway Nursing Center. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Evans Funeral Service & Crematory.
Mr. Ernest Wayne Robbins, age 91, of Lenoir, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 at his residence.
Born February 24, 1922 in Caldwell County, Mr. Robbins was a son of the late Rufus Ervin and Pearl Powell Robbins and the husband of the late Edith Coffey Robbins.
Other than his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Renee Herman; 2 brothers, Rhonda Robbins, Atwell Suddreth, 3 sisters; Lorena McGhinnis, Verilee Greene and Gladys Whitner.
Ernest was Baptist by faith and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II from November of 1942 until December 1945. He received the American Theater Campaign, the Eamet Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze service stars, 2 Purple Hearts and the Good Conduct Medal.
He is survived by 2 sons, Wayne Milton Robbins and wife Gail and Bobby Robbins and wife Debbie; four daughters, Carolyn Robbins Hicks, Donna Robbins Herman and husband R.L.; cherry Robbins and Lynn Robbins Roberts and husband Joe; two sisters, Norma Cozort and Dorothy Bounds, 15 Grandkids and 18 Great-Grandkids.
Other surviving relatives include his devoted nephew, Richard Myers plus several other nephews and nieces; special friends, Clyde Hall, Charlie Sparks, Lane & Mitch Atkinson and Wilma Mikeal.
A special Thank You to Caldwell Hospice Caregivers: Debbie McCroskey, Joy Sherrill, Kathy Messing, Stephanie Spencer, Joyce Roberts and Chaplain Nancy Campbell.
A graveside service with Full Military Honors will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Robbins’ Grandsons; Honorary Pallbearers will be his Great-Grandchildren.

Mrs. Shelvia D. Richards, age 76, of Hudson, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir.

Geneva Kirby Bowman, 87, of Boone passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Lenoir.
She was born in Caldwell County to the late George W. Kirby and the late Katie Sides Kirby. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers; Lawrence Kirby, Carl Kirby and Garland Kirby, three sisters; Carrie Barlow, Hazel Winkler and Ruby Winkler.
Those left to cherish her memory are a son, David Bowman, of Boone, two daughters, Phyllis Dean and husband Ron of Charlotte and Martha B. Crowell of Lenoir, three grandchildren; Beth Crowell of Lenoir, Jennifer Crowe of Lenoir and Morgan Cody of Durham. Also left to cherish her memory are six great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held, Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 3 p.m. in Pendry’s Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens in Boone, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Church, Gary Winkler, Jerry Greene, Charles Minton, Steve Gilbert and Herb Crowell.
Mrs. Josephine Clarke Chester, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice. She was born in Caldwell County on December 7, 1929 to the late Wilson Clarke and Margaret Martin Brown. She was married to Howard Chester of Lenoir for 64 years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Chester; sister, Mary Edmisten; and brother, George Brown.
Other than her husband, she is survived by her children, Halla Dean Wilson and husband Ron; Steve Chester and wife, Wanda; Karen Smith and husband Ron; Teresa Chester; Sharon Thompson; and Abby Street; brothers, Steve Brown and Ronald Brown; sisters, Linda Jones and Margaret Brown ; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mrs. Chester will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 3:00 PM with Pastor John Pritchard officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service.

Mrs. Marie Townsend Greer, age 73, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Watauga County on July 23, 1939 to the late Roy Townsend and Daire Shook Townsend. She loved her all of her many pets.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Monroe Greer and James Greer; great-granddaughters, Victoria Greer and McKenzie Wilson; and one sister and five brothers.
She is survived by her children, Denise Hendrix and husband Danny; Davey Greer; Steve Greer; Sherrie Day and husband Everett; Tammy Holland and husband Gerald; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Williams and Sandra Moody; and brother, Paul “Coute” Townsend.
A celebration of Mrs. Greer’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 12 p.m. with Pastor James Palmer officiating. Interment will take place in the Townsend Family Cemetery in Banner Elk.
Pallbearers will be Erin Greer, J.R. Saunders, Randy Nelson, Tim Moody, Jim Williams, and Cody Clark.
The family will receive friends from 11 until 12 p.m. prior to the service.
