Lenoir man arrested in Hickory after stabbing
A Lenoir man was arrested Tueday by Hickory police and charged in a stabbing that occurred Aug. 31 at a late-night party.
Richard Brooks Williams, 31, of 4260 Rock Road is accused of stabbing Jason Clary, 34, of Alexander County in the groin after Clary tried to break up a fight between Williams and his girlfriend, Sgt. Andy Kerley of the Hickory Police Department said. Kerley did not release the name of the girlfriend, who also is from Lenoir.
Williams and his girlfriend had walked about 4 a.m. from Windy City Sundries at 1129 2nd St. NE to a nearby party at 235 16th Ave. NW and began arguing. Williams was choking the woman when Clary intervened to try to stop him.
Clary was treated and released from Catawba County Medical Center with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Williams was jailed and his bond was set at $15,000.
