Lorine Jeanetta Smith, 82, of Granite Falls passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Frye Regional Medical Center. She was born in Caldwell County on July 30, 1931, to the late McCoy Edgar Suddreth and Inez Edna Bowman. Lorine was a member of Dudley Shoals Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting. She also took pleasure in gardening, herbs, and raising chickens. Along with her parents, Lorine was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Philmore Smith; sisters, Reba Suddreth, Essie Mae Huffman, and Betty Gale Suddreth; and brothers, Bobby Clay Suddreth and Billy Dale Suddreth.
Those left to cherish her memory include four sons, Boyd "Dennis" Rice and wife Schell, Carroll "Wayne" Rice and wife Kathy, Bruce Canaday Suddreth, and Everett "Marvin" Pruitt; three daughters, Doris "Jean" Mummert and husband Lee, Patti Ruth Perrin and husband Allen, and Paula Sue Wise; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; twin sister, Irene Kirby and husband Troy; and brothers, Carroll Suddreth and wife Gillian, and Gerald Suddreth and wife Paula, along with a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 7, 2014, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church. The service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Ingle and the Rev. Keith Childers officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers include Mark Sherrill, Bobby Thorne, Robert Thorne, Jimmy Carswell, Kenneth Herman, and Tim McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Hollar and Steve Eckerd.

Nina Raydell Ashley Pardue, 89, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Caldwell Hospice. She was born in Wilkes County on Jan. 18, 1925, to the late Thomas Harrison Ashley and Queenie Hanes Ashley.
Mrs. Pardue was a member of Miller’s Creek Baptist Church. During World War II she worked at Belk as a buyer for the men’s department. She later operated a grocery store and also operated a sandwich shop for over six years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Stewart Pardue; daughters, Doris Anne Johnson and Peggy Ruth Pardue; sisters, Lillie Mae Ashely Wayne, Hattie Geneva Ashley Dancy, and Elsie Virginia Ashley Miller; and her brother, Clifford Allen Ashley.
Mrs. Pardue is survived by her grandchildren, Sabrina Cole and Joshua Alan Pardue; great-grandchildren, Abigail Nina McKiegan and Reagan Cole McKiegan; and several nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives.
A memorial service for Mrs. Pardue will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 3 p.m.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 prior to the service.

Bobby Milton Wright, 69, passed away March 5, 2014, at Caldwell Hospice after a brief illness.
Bobby was born May 6, 1944, in Cleveland County to the late Jessie Hardin and Flossie Willis Wright. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Faye Poteat.
He was employed at Bruards Furniture.
Surviving are his wife of 45 1/2 years, Joyce Church Wright of the home; daughters, Markieta Lowdermilk and husband Chris of Hudson, and Tammy Juanita Wright of Granite Falls; grandchildren, Chelsea Lowdermilk, Jessica Lowdermilk, Tabby Piercy and Bobby Holsclaw; great-grandson, Thomas Piercy; sisters, Pam Reitzel of Hickory and Brenda Hollar of Claremont; brothers, Donald Wright of Hickory, Mike Wright of Statesville, Jackie Wright of Conover and Ricky Wright of Granite Falls.
Services will be Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Parsons, the Rev. Scott Huffman and the Rev. Eric Hollar officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:45 – 2:45 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home.

Teresa Stewart Gerhard, 45, of Hickory passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014.
Born Dec. 8, 1968, in Copperhill, Tenn., she was the daughter of Robert “Bill” Stewart and Margie Payne Stewart.
She was a loving mother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by her son, Cody Thomas Goode of Waycross, Ga.; two brothers: Dennis Bruce Jr. of Crestview, Fla., and Robert Stewart of Waycross, Ga.; a sister, Debra Bruce Vetetoe of Hickory; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014, in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Deal officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 – 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
