Luther Ashby

Luther Thomas Ashby, 83, of Hudson passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.

Mr. Ashby was born in Clintwood, Va., to the late Joseph Garland Ashby and Ocie Ramey Ashby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. He was a retired salesman, owner of Pioneer Folk Toys, a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lenoir.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Frances Smith Ashby of the home; his daughters, Phyllis Kelly and husband Tim of Trinity, Angie Poston and husband Mark of Wilmington, and Audrie Eidson and husband Allen of Atlanta, Ga. He also leaves behind six grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, in Pendry’s Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jamie Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Patricia Cannon

Patricia Ann Hendrix Cannon, 67, passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014.

A celebration of Mrs. Cannon’s life will be at Harris Chapel Baptist Church on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2.

Tina Clark

Tina Lynn Clark, 43, of East Flat Church Road, Lenoir, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at the residence. She was born July 11, 1970, in Forsyth County to Alma Brown Reid of Caries Flat and the late Hassel Henry Reid. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Reid.

Mrs. Clark was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors in addition to her mother, include her husband, Larry Clark of the home; two sons, Chris Clark and wife Samantha of Sawmills, and Ethan Clark of the home; one daughter, Katie Wolfe and husband Troy of Morganton; four brothers, Terry Reid and wife Lori of Caries Flat, Joel Reid of Socastee, S.C., Kelly Reid and wife Teresa, and Junior Reid and wife Reva, both of Rockwell; one sister, Gail Presnell and husband Gary of Caries Flat; and two grandchildren, Jayden Clark and Hailey Wolfe.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Jeanette Toliver

Jeanette Gayle Toliver, 70, of Lenoir went home to be with our Lord Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at Caldwell County Hospice and Palliative Care of Lenoir. She was born on Oct. 8, 1943, in Ashe County to the late Paul and Blanche Stevens Lawrence. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Dean Lawrence.

Mrs. Toliver was a homemaker and a member of Blue Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Kyle Toliver of the home; one son, Martin Dwayne Toliver and wife Lorie of Lenoir; one daughter, Mrs. Leslie Wilson and husband Randy of Lenoir; four brothers, Kenneth Lawrence and wife Kitty, Kevin Lawrence and wife Lorie, Ronnie Lawrence and wife Barbara, all of Ashe County, and Nick Lawrence and wife Sandy of Wilkes County; one sister, Mrs. Paulette Poe and husband Paul of Ashe County; and three grandchildren, Drew Shell, Travis Toliver and Kelsey Toliver.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at 4 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Jack Lewis and the Rev. Gurney Robbins. Interment will follow at Laurel Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kyle Clement, Scott Livingston, Dennis Toliver, Bill Laney, Shawn Haigler and Ricky Earp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St. NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
