Rebecca Hayes

First Lady Rebecca Jean Hendrix Hayes, 63, of Lenoir went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, May 31, 2013, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 7, 1949, in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late James Arby Hendrix and Vera Jean Witherspoon Hendrix.

Preceding her in death was her parents, and one sister, Donice Oliver.

Mrs. Hayes alongside her husband, Elder Robert Lee Hayes, founded Chesterfield Church of God Inc. She assisted her husband in the pastoral duties and was known for being a great cook as she used this talent as a ministry to others. She also played piano and was a soloist.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Elder Robert Lee Hayes of the home; two daughters, Rebecca Hope Hayes Morrow and husband Jasper Morrowand Roslyn Lea Hayes Isbell and husband Elder George Isbell, all of Lenoir; one sister, Olivia Banner; six grandchildren, William D. Hayes, ShaMaria N. Hayes, Anthony T. Isbell, Trinity R. Hayes, Azyah J. Isbell, and Yvonne G. Hayes; a special aunt, Ruth Wells, and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Bishop Joe Gray presiding, Bishop Shawn Hooper, Elder George Isbell, Overseer Romey Patterson, and Bishop R.C. Bryant, Eulogist. The family will speak to friends following the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Hayes, Tracey Hayes, Chris Hendrix, Timothy Witherspoon, William Oliver, Jr., Ricky Adams, and Jasper Morrow.

Helen Bryant

Helen Johnson Bryant, 77, of Lenoir passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Lenoir Healthcare.

Mrs. Bryant was born in Wilkes County to the late Clinard E. Johnson and Thelma Jones Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Johnson and a sister, Edith Marie Johnson. She was retired from Broyhill Furniture and was a member of Walking By Faith Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert Joe Bryant of the home; her sons, Travis Joe Bryant of Lenoir, Robert Stephen Bryant and wife Tammy of Lenoir, and David Randal Bryant and wife Cathy of Lenoir; special son, Deputy Johnny Runion of Lenoir; a brother, the Rev. Walter Gwyn Johnson of Greensboro; and her sisters, Dorotha Johnson of Ferguson and Beryl Taylor of Lenoir. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 2 p.m. in Pendry’s Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Ford officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Anita Brittain

Anita Carol Coffey Brittain, 54, of Granite Falls passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013, at her residence.

Mrs. Brittain was born in Watauga County to the late Thomas Calhoun and Dorothy Crump Calhoun. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Wilson Brittain. She was employed by Snyder Paper Corporation.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Timothy Dean Shatley and wife Lorraine of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Jonathan Lee Brittian and Dawn of Lenoir; her daughter, Melisa Dawn Brittain Phillips of the home and fiancé John Chester; her brothers, William Dean Coffey of Jonas Ridge, Randy Russell Coffey of Lenoir and James Harvey Coffey of Jonas Ridge; her sisters, Sandra Kay Coffey of Lenoir, and Patty Coffey Greer and husband Rex of Ashe County; and nine grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 4 p.m. in Pendry’s Chapel. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home on Saturday from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m.
