Margie Lee Haas Butler

Margie Lee Haas Harrison Hooks Butler, 90, of Spurger, Texas, passed away July 27, 2013, at her home. She was born on April 17, 1923, in Caldwell County to the late Henry Lee Haas and Pearl Curtis Haas Cooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands Frank Harrison Jr., Felix Hooks and Junior Butler; sons Lester Harrison, Wayne Harrison and Curtis Hooks; a sister, Tommie Haas Rhea; and a nephew, Mike Rhea.

Survivors include her son, Steve Hooks and wife Madge of Spurger; one daughter, Gale Hooks of Spurger; a stepson, Ray Butler of Georgia; daughter-in-laws, Sue Harrison of Spurger and Cindy Hooks of Lenoir; nephew, Jim Rhea and wife Cheryl of Granite Falls; niece, Kim Bolick and husband Frank of Granite Falls. Margie is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and special friend, Gloria Wolfford of Spurger.

A service was held Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Fred Pentecostal Church in Fred, Texas. Burial was in the Fred Community Cemetery. Farmer Funeral Home of Silsbee, Texas was in charge of arrangements.

Dale Hall Sr.

Dale Thomas Hall Sr., 48, of the Kings Creek Community passed away, Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013. at Frye Regional Medical Center, due to complications from a heart attack. He was born Jan. 17, 1965, in Caldwell County to Bruce and Jeanne Hall of Kings Creek.

Mr. Hall was co-owner of Side Street Pourhouse. He loved spending time with family and friends and was of the Baptist faith. He was a wonderful father, son, brother and a wonderful “Uncle Dale” to Zoe and Sage. He loved to travel and go on new adventures, was full of life and lived life to the fullest. Dale will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors in addition to his parents include his son, DJ Hall of Sanford; grandmother, Hildred Hall; sister, Joy Hall Sharpe and husband Anthony of the home; two nieces, Zoe Waters and Sage Sharpe of the home; aunts, Lou Ann Lackey and Barbara Hamby and husband Bud; uncle, Bill Hall and wife Peggy; and several cousins.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at 6 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Todd Braswell.
