Charles Pinkney Woods, 77, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. He was born in Caldwell County on Oct. 1, 1936, to the late Floyd Woods and Lucy Rader Woods. He was married to Lorraine Greene Woods, his wife of 40 years, of the residence.
Mr. Woods graduated from Happy Valley High School and Appalachian State University. He retired from Caldwell County Schools after teaching for more than 35 years, primarily at Hibriten High School. Mr. Woods was a member and former deacon at Mulvale Baptist Church. He enjoyed collecting knives and was an author for Knife World Magazine, writing under the pen name of Fred Steel.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, David Neal Woods and wife Susan of Greensboro, and Dennis William Woods of Lenoir.
A celebration of the life of Mr. Woods will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Brian Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 prior to the service.

Evelyn Juanita Turner Lail Presnell, 58, of Granite Falls went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Caldwell Hospice, Hudson. She was born Jan. 28, 1956, daughter of the late William Mack Turner Sr. and Johnsie Lee Cannon.
She is survived by her son, Stanley Wayne Lail Jr. of Granite Falls; daughter-in-law, Lori Ann Lail of Granite Falls; stepfather, Gene Norman Triplett of Granite Falls; two brothers, Eddy Turner and wife Ann of Granite Falls, and Carroll Triplett of Granite Falls; one sister, Elizabeth Triplett of Granite Falls; one grandson, Trey Allen Lail; and one nephew, Dalton Page.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at 11 to 12 p.m. at Mackie Funeral Home. Service will begin at Mackie Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Hamby officiating. Burial to follow at Harris Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Marcus “Mark” Brent Bradshaw, 53, of Lenoir passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 28, 1960, in Caldwell County, Mark was a son of the late Vincent D. and Marjorie Porch Bradshaw. He was a Christian by faith and was a Mason for many years. He was a graduate of Western Carolina University and a former Caldwell County Building Inspector. He also was a Little League Coach for 15 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael S. Bradshaw.
Survivors include his wife, LuAnn “Cookie” Mabe Bradshaw of Lenoir; a daughter, Evelyn Suzanne Bradshaw of Lenoir; a son, Vincent David Bradshaw of Raleigh; three brothers, Vincent D. Bradshaw Jr., wife Maryann, of Lakewood, Colo., Gregory L. Bradshaw, wife Janet, of Taylorsville, and Kenneth E. Bradshaw, wife Sharon, of Dallas, Ga. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service celebrating Mark’s life will be held on Friday, Jan. 31, 2013, at 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Rudy Hayes officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
