Keith E. Bradshaw, 57, of Legion Road, Hudson, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013. He was born July 16, 1956, in Caldwell County to the late Joseph Edgar and Florence Bolick Bradshaw.
Mr. Bradshaw was a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include one son, Joseph Keith Bradshaw; and two sisters, Carole Land and husband Stewart of Hudson, and Frances Douglas of Lenoir.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.
Graveside services will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir conducted by the Rev. Don Ingle.

Patricia Ann Conley Hunter Pearson, 60, of Morganton passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 21, at noon at Shiloh AME Church. A full obituary will be in Wednesday's paper. Ebony Funeral Services of Morganton is assisting the Pearson family.
James Lynwood Corpening, 83, of Lenoir passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Shaire Center.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1930, in Lenoir to the late Lynwood Elisha Corpening and Martha Elizabeth Crump. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, M. Mason Corpening and John K. Corpening.
Mr. Corpening is survived by a sister, Mary Ellen Corpening of Lenoir; three nephews, M. Kelly Corpening and wife Kathy of Lenoir, Rob Corpening of Atlanta, Ga., and Kelly D. Corpening of Atlanta, Ga.; and a niece, Aleesa Talmadge and husband Tracy of Atlanta, Ga. In addition, Mr. Corpening is survived by 3 great-nieces and 2 great-nephews.
James was a member of Miller Hill Baptist Church and worked in furniture for many years.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Pendry’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Walsh officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at Pendry’s Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert “Dusty” Crump, Tony Graves, Johnny “Space” Crump, Edward Crump, Hunter “Pedro” Crump and Thomas Crump. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Miller Hill Baptist Church Brotherhood.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Miller Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1230 Virginia Street, Lenoir, NC 28645 or to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St. NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.

Frances Storie Shehan, 87, of Lenoir went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Caldwell County Hospice. She was born May 12, 1926, in Caldwell County. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Nancy Storie.
In addition to both her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne; two sons, Larry Storie and Carroll Shehan; one sister, Verlee Tolbert; two brothers, Carl Storie and Frank Storie; one son-in-law, Ken Johnson.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca Johnson of Waynesville, and Sandy and husband Preston Bryant of Granite Falls; five sons, Paul Storie of Hudson, Ken and wife Toni Shehan of Lenoir, Jimmy and wife Carol Shehan of Lenoir, Rick and wife Sherry Shehan of Hudson, and Michael and wife Ginger Shehan of Hickory; one brother, Richard Storie of Gamewell; one sister, Pauline Gragg of Lenoir; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
The service will be private.

Joe David Laws, 88, of Lenoir went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.
He was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Caldwell County to the late Andy Greene Laws and Elizabeth Price. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Annie Laws, on Nov. 4, 2013; two sons, Andy and Arey Laws; one granddaughter, Deva Laws; four brothers, Coy Laws, Jess Laws, Fred Laws and Dan Laws; and three sisters, Toye Branch, Hazel Barker, and Mabel Hawkins.
Mr. Laws owned and operated his own saw mill company, and retired from Bernhardt Furniture, and was a faithful member of Poarch’s Chapel Missionary Methodist Church. His passion in life was providing for his family and being a servant for the Lord.
Mr. Laws is survived by three sons, Donald Laws of Lenoir, Steve Laws of Lenoir, and Jonas Laws and wife Lesley of Granite Falls; four daughters, Esta Crisp and husband Dennis of Lenoir, Reba Pennington and husband Gary of Lenoir, Mary Pritchard and husband Dennis of Granite Falls, and Toye Crisp and husband Dwayne of Lenoir. Mr. Laws is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Byrd.
The funeral service will be held, Dec. 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Pendry’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Confidence Advent Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, Dec. 18, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bobby William Chester, 71, of Green Acres Street, Lenoir, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 10, 1942, in Caldwell County to the late Argie and Maude Gragg Chester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Allen Chester; and grandson, Jordan Watson.
Mr. Chester was a truck driver for Cargo Transportation in Claremont and was a member of Cedar Rock Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Louise Miller Chester of the home; three sons, Stewart Chester and wife Robin of Hudson, Kenneth Chester and wife Janice and Bill Miller and wife Laura, both of Lenoir; three daughters, Karen C. Soots and husband Tam of Tampa, Florida, Amy Melton and husband Lee and Karen M. Watson and husband Chuck, both of Hudson; nine grandchildren, William Miller Jr., Jonathan Soots, Megan Flowers, Brittany Trevino, Holly Moss, Amber Chester, Heather Watson, Brittany Watson and Scarlett Melton; great-grandchildren, Gracie Chester, William Miller III, Malachi Moss and Jake Flowers. one brother, Harvey Chester and wife Libby of Elk Creek; five sisters, Leona Hicks and husband Boyce and Margie Taylor and husband Dewey, both of Hudson, Lucille Church and husband Claude of Rowlett, Texas, Ruby Ervin and husband Bill of Lenoir, Reba Greene and husband Jim of Pfafftown, N.C.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Rock Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jim Robbins and Rev. Benny Hendrix. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.
The family will receive Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
