Joyce Ann Cox, 73, of Lenoir went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at the Camelot Manor Nursing Home.
Born July 17, 1940, in Washington County, Va., Joyce was a daughter of the late Lawrence A. and Lydia Cox. She was Baptist by faith and loved her Lord. She enjoyed playing Bingo and listening to Gospel Music. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Spencer Cox; two brothers-in-law, Billy Ray Johnson and Bill D. Hart; and a great -nephew, Zachery Johnson.
Survivors include two sisters, Judy Johnson, and Lola Farthing and husband John; a brother, Rondy Cox; nephews, Marty Hart and wife Donna, Stacy Cox and wife Carrie, Jeffrey Johnson, and Shaun Cox; nieces, Karen Warren and husband Scott, Tracy Burchette and husband Jeff, Teri Pope and husband Jeff, and Betsy Johnson; great nephews, Dustin Warren and wife Shaina, Matthew Cox and wife Amber, Brandon Burchette, Mark Cox, and Tucker Johnson; great nieces, Sydney Johnson, Peyton Johnson, Rachel Hart, and Cheyenne Johnson; and great-great nephews, Parker Cox and Jackson Warren.
A graveside celebration of Joyce’s life was held on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at 12 p.m. in the Rosedale Baptist Church Cemetery in Abingdon, Va.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood St. NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.

Randall Gene Taylor, 50, of Blowing Rock Blvd., Lenoir, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at the residence. He was born Oct. 27, 1963, in Caldwell County to the late Harry Lee and Lois Ingram Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was a self-employed carpenter and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son, Randall Taylor and wife Chongie of Hudson; one brother, Lonnie Taylor of Lenoir; sister, Susan Taylor Nichols and husband Keith of Lenoir; two grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at 7 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Eddie Summerlin.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Cecil Paul Bowman, 82, of Montross, Va., died on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013. He was born Aug. 14, 1931, in Caldwell County to the late George and Pantha Freeman Bowman. He was preceded in death by a son, Buddy Lee Bowman; three brothers, Boyd Bowman, Eugene Bowman and George Bowman; and two sisters, Jeannette Pipes and Cedren Robbins.
Mr. Bowman was the husband of the late Edith L. Bowman, a member of Currioman Baptist Church, a member of Montross Moose Lodge # 2333 and a retired security guard for Stratford Harbour Association.
He is survived by his sons, Keith Bowman and wife Judy of Montross, Va., Paul Bowman and wife Tonya, and Donald Bowman and wife Gail, all of Lenoir; one brother, George Marshall Bowman Jr. of North Carolina; four sisters, Roxie Hamlet, Florence Balderson, and Reba Alverson and husband Bill, all of Montross, Va., and Betty Sue Kirby and husband Dillard of Patterson. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Park conducted by the Rev. Gurney Robbins.

Wilma Jean Rash, 69, passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Brian Center – Viewmont. She was born in Buchanan, Va., on July 22, 1944, to the late Grover Wilson and Gladys Rasnake Wilson. This year she celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband, Fred Rash.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Rash was preceded in death by her daughter, Loretta Rash, six sisters and seven brothers.
Other than her husband, she is survived by her sons, Tony Rash and Greg Rash; sister, Mary Love and husband Johnny; sister, Brenda Harris; brother, Giles Wilson; grandsons, Adam Toliver and Dallas Rash; granddaughter, Victoria Rash; great-granddaughter, Alyia Greene; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mrs. Rash’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at 1 with David Brown officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 prior to the service.

James “Jim” Cecil Rogers, 79, passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Born May 29, 1934, in Wilkes County, Jim was a son of the late Elizabeth Barlowe. Jim was a member of the Union Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He spent his entire working career in the furniture industry.
Other than his mother he was preceded in death by his son, Marty Rogers.
Jim is survived by his wife, Willie “Teddie” Rogers of the residence; four stepsons; two brothers; two sisters; eight grandchildren; two great-grandsons; one special granddaughter, Leah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Union Baptist Church on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at 2:30 with Pastor Myron Davis officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 prior to the service.
