Adam Gilbert

Adam Carroll Gilbert of Lenoir passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, at his residence following a period of longstanding health problems.

Born Jan. 18, 1984, in Guilford County, he was the son of Larry James Gilbert and Paula Lynn Gilbert.

Preceded in death by his grandfathers, Carroll Bumgarner and Hobart C. Gilbert, and an uncle, Terry Glen Gilbert.

Adam is survived by his mother, Paula Lynn Gilbert, and stepdad, William Kiger of Lenoir; his father, Larry James Gilbert, and stepmother, Martha Ann of Conover; a daughter, Adalynn Dawn Gilbert, and her mother and Adam’s best friend, Tasha Pennell of Lenoir; three stepsisters, Ashley Rumbough of Hendersonville, Allison Cox of St. Pete Beach, Fla., and Kelly Bradley of Hendersonville; two grandmothers, Pauline Bumgarner and Geneva Gilbert Burton, both of Lenoir; two uncles, James Bumgarner and wife Teresa of Mocksville, and Randy Gilbert of Lenoir; cousins, A.J. and Kenny Bumgarner of Mocksville, Jamie Melendez of Florida, and Justin Gilbert of Hickory.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir, with the Pastor Jerry Woody officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory.

Addie Lackey

Addie Teeters Lackey, 73, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at her residence. She was born in Caldwell County on Sept. 30, 1940, to the late Ralph “Pete” Teeters and Ella Marie Haas Teeters. Mrs. Lackey was married for more than 57 years to Clyde Lackey of the residence.

Mrs. Lackey was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who brought joy to not only her family but to everyone she came in contact with. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Donald Lee Lackey; grandson, James Lee Lackey; brother, Ralph Eugene Teeters; and sister, Ruby Stevens.

Other than her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Doris Freeman and husband Johnie; sons, Clyde Wayne Lackey and wife Denise, Rick Lackey and wife Brenda, and Terry Lackey and wife Christine; brother, Edward Teeters; grandchildren, Robbie Freeman, Melony Freeman, Carrie Lackey Jenkins, Chelsea Lackey Parmelee, Sharise Lackey, Serena Lackey, Alexiss Lackey, Larissa Lackey; and great-grandchildren, Nathanael Freeman, Millie Freeman, Rachael Freeman, Gabriel Freeman, Aden Pennington, Alec Jenkins, and Justice Lackey.

A celebration of Mrs. Lackey’s life will be held at New Life Baptist Church on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 5 with Pastor Phillip Hawkins officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 5 prior to the service.

Ronnie Gene Swink, 45, of Valdese passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 2 p.m. at The Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
