Rita Dale Moretz Fritts, 54, of Rhodhiss passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Caldwell County Hospice, Lenoir.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Ball.
Mrs. Fritts was of the Methodist Faith. She was a precious daughter, mother, sister and nana.
She is survived by her mother Linda “Jeannie” Martin of Rhodhiss; two sons, Chad Moore of Rhodhiss, and Charles Chambers and wife Katie of Hudson; one daughter, Briana Fritts of Rhodhiss; three sisters, Kendra Edwards of Rhodhiss, Carolyn Downing of Hudson, and Darlene Moretz Zimmerman of Granite Falls; one brother, Steven W. Mortez of Connelly Springs; and three grandchildren, Natalie Rink, Landon Moore, and Adelynn Chambers.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, July, 26, 2014, 11 a.m. at Sunset Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Holman officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Bass-Smith Granite prior to the graveside service.

Frances Miller Carpenter, 73, of Hudson passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Caldwell Hospice in Hudson.
Ms. Carpenter was born in Caldwell County to the late Earl B. Miller and Cora Lee Coffey Miller. She was retired from the furniture industry and was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers Bobby and Nolan Miller, and a sister Jean Carpenter.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Floyd Larry Carpenter Jr., MSGT, USAF, Retired of Anderson, S.C., and Roger Dale Carpenter of Broomfield, Colorado; James W. Cline of the home and his children, Charlie Cline and Kim Cline Yarbrough; brothers, Thomas E. Miller and wife Reba of Hudson, and Basil C. Miller and wife Karen of Southport; sisters, Margaret M. Evans of Blacksburg, S.C., and Mary M. Spicer of Lenoir; brother-in-law John D. Carpenter of Baton; numerous nieces and nephews; two grandchildren, Ashley Breanne Carpenter and Shane Ryan Carpenter, both of Springlake; and two great-grandchildren, Mariah Lynn Flores and Naomi Jocelyn Flores.
A funeral service will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Edd Warren and the Rev. Marvin Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rob Stubblebine, TJ Miller, Tommy Miller, David Evans, Donald Evans and Jeremy Carpenter. Honorary pallbearer will be Jason Carpenter.

Jack Jackson Simmons, 67, of Morris Creek Road, Granite Falls, died Monday, July 21, 2014. He was born Oct. 15, 1946, in Caldwell County to the late Ed and Annie Belle West Simmons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Simmons.
Mr. Simmons was retired from Carolina Steel Company and was a member of Temple Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Brenda Starnes Simmons of the home; one son, Michael Wayne Simmons and wife Marty Blocker Simmons, and their children, Emily Caroline Simmons and Ethan Michael Simmons, all of Bethlehem; and one sister, Betty Clark and husband Larry of Hickory.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 4 p.m. at Temple Hill Baptist Church, 4400 Temple Hill Church Road, Granite Falls, conducted by the Rev. Max West and Speaker Lori Blocker. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Curtis Blocker, Ronnie Lail, Jackie Starnes, Mark Starnes, Gary Story and Gordon West.
