Dora Lee Poarch Vines, 83, of Lenoir passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013.
Mrs. Vines was born in Caldwell County to the late Lester Lee Poarch and Nancy Estes Poarch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death two son-in-laws, Jerry Watson and Delane Scott.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years, Lloyd D. Vines of the home; her son, Dennis Lee Vines of Lenoir; daughters, Debra Watson of Lenoir and Susan Diane Scott of Lenoir; brothers, Tate Poarch and wife Dixie of Lenoir, Ned Poarch and wife Sheryl of Lowell; and a sister, Elizabeth Rayle and husband Tommy of Lenoir. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Pendry’s Chapel with the Rev. Mike Issacs officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the 2p.m.service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Crump, Keith Hall, Matthew Hall, Lee Vines, John Luke Curtis and Chris Blankenship.
The family would like to thank the many employees of Lenoir Health Care for the care their mother received.

Frank Hetrick Sr.
Frank Louis Hetrick Sr., 76, of Granite Falls died June 7.
Survivors include sons Randy Hetrick of Granite Falls and Frank S. Hetrick of Taylorsville; granddaughters Ashley Hetrick of Greensboro, Raven Hetrick of Taylorsville and Alyssa Hetrick of Lenoir.
A private service will be held.
Joshua “Josh” Daniel Foust, 28, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013, in Alexander County. He was born in Caldwell County on Aug. 28, 1984, to Carlos Foust and Denise Grogan Wilson. He was married to April Wallace Foust and was the father of Caleb Daniel Foust.
Josh was a dedicated Christian and loving father and husband. He was a member of Day 3 Church and employed at Century Fire Protection. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, enjoying both on- and off-road riding.
In addition to his wife, son and parents he is survived by his stepmother, Shannon Foust; grandparents, Bill and Dianna Grogan, and Mack and Becky Foust; sisters, Brittany Foust and Alison Woods; brothers, Joseph Woods and Victor McRary; nine nieces and nephews; numerous close relatives; and his beloved pets, Bella and Rowdy.
A celebration of Josh’s life will be held at Poovey’s Chapel Baptist Church on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 11 with Pastor Nicky Waters and Pastor Lynn Parsons officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.
There will be an escorted procession of motorcycles leaving Evans Funeral Service and going to the church. Those interested in riding their motorcycles should be at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Nick Clark, Jordy Clark, Tripp Allison, Willy Baker, Dave Bumgarner, Victor McRary, Lewis Foust, and McDean Foust.
The family will receive friends at Poovey’s Chapel Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, from 4 until 6 p.m.

Gwindola Bryant Franklin, 82, of Granite Falls passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013, at her home.
Born March 13, 1931, in Caldwell County, Gwindola was a daughter of the late Coot and Kate Munday Bryant. She was a cosmetologist and had attended Whitnel Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, John Robert Dula and James Wesley Dula.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Laws of Lenoir, and a son, Jack Edward Dula of Granite Falls; a sister, Annie Rockette of Marion; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service celebrating Gwindola’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Ed Warren officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, Margaret Mabe Perkins Powell, 79, of Hartland Road, Morganton, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013. Born in Burke County on March 2, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Nathaniel Mabe and Allie Setzer Mabe.
Mrs. Powell was a devoted elementary school teacher for Burke County Public Schools for 35 years. Known to her students as Mrs. Perkins, she loved teaching and guiding young children. A member of First Advent Christian Church, Mrs. Powell was a devoted Christian who loved God, her family, and friends. She had a big heart and always loved to spend time with her family. She will be greatly missed.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Harland Wade Powell of the home; her children, Norman Perkins and his wife, Sharon, of Hanford, Calif., Janee Ramsey and her husband, Michael, of Morganton, Randy Perkins and his wife, Vonda, of Granite Falls, and Audrey Ryan and her husband, Doug, of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Zachary Perkins and his wife, Sandy, Jeremy Perkins, Aaron Ramsey and his wife, Jordan Laney, Katie Dill and her husband, Chaz, Kristen Perkins, Rachel Perkins, Allie Ryan, and Jack Ryan; stepchildren, Wade Powell Jr., Carolyn Johnson, Janet Branch, and Robin Powell; sisters, Iva Mabe and Nina LaFevers, both of Morganton; and several nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren whom she loved very much.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband of 45 years, Burl Norman Perkins; brothers, Melvin and Harless Mabe; and a sister, Doris Stover.
The funeral will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at First Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Patrick Bradshaw and the Rev. Ronnie LaFevers officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Troy Wilburn Suddreth, 88, passed away on June 9, 2013, at his residence.
