Kylee Delaine Walker, 4, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Levine Children’s Hospital after a long battle with Neuroblastoma cancer. Kylee was surrounded by her family, friends and the loving staff at the hospital. She was born in Burke County on March 23, 2009, to Michael Walker and Misty Barker.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her sisters, Cierra Vess, and Cidney Vess; brothers, Casey Vess, Michael Walker Jr., and Grayson Walker; grandparents, Brian and Susan Presnell, Steve and Kim Barker, Kathy and Tim Scott, and Junior Walker; and numerous aunts, uncles and many other loving friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Levine Children’s Hospital and to Dr. Jennifer Pope for their excellent care and love shown to Kylee and her family during their lengthy stay.
A celebration of Kylee’s life will be held at Crossroads Community Church on Saturday, June 15, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rick Bowman and Pastor Freddy Stapleton officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Casey Vess, Steve Barker, Mike Walker, and Brian Presnell. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Walker Jr., Grayson Walker and Brian Presnell II.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Friday, June 14, 2013, from 4 until 6 p.m.

Johnsie Barnes and Clyde Barnes
A Celebration of Life Service for Johnsie Robertson Barnes, September 1, 1920 – October 15, 2012, and Clyde D. Barnes, September 19, 1917 – May 5, 2013, will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Nazareth Advent Christian Church, 3221 Deerbrook Road, Lenoir, NC 28645. Family and friends are cordially invited.
Susie A. Shoemaker, 58, of Charles Melton Lane, Lenoir, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care – Lenoir. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Greer-McElveen Funeral Home and Crematory.
James Paul Dabner, 56, of Lenoir passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Mr. Dabner was born in Caldwell County to the late Paul William Dabner and Mary Frances Dixon Dabner. Over the years, he worked as a cook at Mom & Pop’s Restaurant, and later worked for Harper Factory and Pacemaker.
He was a member of the First Church of God and a volunteer at Christian Ministries in Morganton.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Gloria Denis Fox of Atlanta, Ga., Christan Watts of Durham and Brandice Watts of Hickory; his brothers, Ronald Dabner of Lenoir, Bruce Dabner of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Michael Dabner of Lenoir; his sisters, Paulette Davis, Mary Bivens and Shelia Dabner, all of Lenoir; two grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 16, 2013, at 3 p.m. at the First Church of God with the Rev. Vanoy Pearson officiating. Burial will follow the service in Dulatown Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday at the church from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the family of Mr. Dabner.
